"The Glencadia Bullets capture Jr. Olympic track and field crown" The local boys track and field team lead by Chris Volney competed in Johnstown and were victorious!!! The girls won the bronze medal !! The boys beat out 9 other teams winning thier first USATF gold medal !! The Register Star has a nice write up of thier accomplishments but I would like to give them some credit here as well. Chase Werner competed in the midget boys 11-12 year age group and won 3 gold medals; 800 meter run, the 1,500 and anchoring the 4 X 100 relay team. Austin Leonard was golden in the 100 meter dash, 4 X 100 relay and silver in the 800 meter. David Daly captured two gold and a bronze in shot put,discus and javelin. Stephen Naegeli outran his rival to win the gold in the 80 meter hurdles. He also won the silver for the 200 meter dash and was one of the four getting the gold in the 4 X 100 relay. Brandon Cross remained undefeated with gold in the javelin. Jonathan Quimby won the silver medal in the youth boy's javelin. Ian Cooke took home two gold and a silver, respectively in the 200,400 and 100. In bantam boys (ages 9-10) Jacob Gellert and Austin Valliere finished first and second in the 100 meter dash. Valliere took gold in the 200 and Gellert took gold in the 400. Daniel Hotaling and Bray Kowalski finished first and second in the 800, while Hotaling added gold in the 1,500. Kowalski won the gold in the 300g javelin throw with Max Rexhouse taking second place. Rexhouse also won a gold in shot put. The 4 X 400 relay of Kowalski, Hotaling, Gellert and Valliere set a new Adirondack Association record with a time of 5:31.62. Needless to say that got them the gold. For the bantam boys Eric Gardella got a bronze in the 400 meter. Midget boys had Donald Rothwein win the bronze in the 400 and Sean Daly took the silver in shot put. Intermediate boys winners include Avery Pellnat taking silver in both 3,000 as well as discuss. Walker Cacciator grabbed the silver in 2,000 steeplechase. Andrew Schomaker competing in the young men's catagory took silver in 1,500, 110 hurdles and high hump. The girls were gathering medals as well. Hanna Gardella won the gold in the sub-bantam 100 and 400. She was also involved in the 4 X 100 relay with Erin Hallenbeck, Isabella Sakolish and Jena Ayer that captured the gold. Amara Steenburn won the gold in the youth girls 200 and 400. Emily Phillips won bronze in the 200 meter. Nicole Hallenbeck won the gold in midget girls high jump and silver in the 400. Megan Kirby won the silver in the 800.
